Spaces are about 10-by-10 feet and, electricity will be available. “There is no set time for contestants to arrive, as they are to choose what time they feel works for them to be ready by 11 a.m.,” said Bosley. Someone will be on hand as early as 6 a.m. to keep the chili hot during the day, at their booths. The MVFD is offering contestants use of their kitchen facilities, if they choose, to cook that morning and they ask for everyone to bring their own warmers, crockpots, etc. They can do prep work such as cutting up peppers, onions, etc., but the meat must still be in the package and cooked on the grounds. All contestants in the chili cook-off must prepare their chili on the premises of the event. Those entering their chili in the contest have a chance at winning cash prizes for first, second and third prizes. Whether signing up for the cook-off, or as a vendor, registration is $30 per space and preregistration is required.
